Mexico City

After 3 days of R&R in Santa Monica, LA, we hopped on a plane to Mexico City in the fine company of Rihanna who we spoke to on the flight! :) It was unfortunate that we had to speak to her dressed in our dorky travel apparel - she looked amazing!

We were expecting the worst based on the numerous warnings we had received from people about crime in safety in the city but much to our surprise, Mexico City was an extremely interesting, diverse and safe place to explore. With a population the size of Australia, Mexico City has lots to offer.

We soon realised that there was no chance of blending in and looking like a local when each of us stands at least one foot taller than your average Mexican. Add the fair skin and lack of Spanish and they can spot us Gringos a mile away!

The B&B we stayed at was beautiful - a restored Mexican "mansion" with high ceilings, lots of character and a lovely host - Max who helped us out with places to see and cooked yum breakfasts for us each morning.

Mexico City Highlights:

Visiting the Teotihuacan, an enormous archaeological site around 2 hours from Mexico City containing some amazing pyramids built around 200BCE

Visiting the home of Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera - an enormous blue house in the Coyoacan district

Our day out exploring the main square "Zocalo" and surrounding sites
